Jewellery Care

JEWELLERY

Great care has been taken in creating your personalised fingerprint, handprint or photo engraved jewellery. To protect your precious impressions and images and contribute to its longevity, we suggest that you store your jewellery separately and in its original packaging as metals and stones (crystals) can scratch when they come into contact with each other.

SILVER

Any silver, whether fine (99%) or sterling (92.5%), can discolour if left exposed to heat or sunlight for long periods of time – hence our recommendation to store your jewellery in its box when not in use. To polish the surface, we recommend using a non-abrasive silver polishing cloth over the silver parts of your finished jewellery.  With handcrafted fingerprint jewellery avoid polishing any dark tinted hand or footprint impressions as this is not necessary and may affect the tinted colour.  Use light pressure if polishing over any engraved images or impressions.

Please note that silver is a relatively soft metal and care should be taken to avoid any repeated knocks , etc. during use.  Jewellery can also be caught against clothing, etc. and care should be taken to avoid this and to check from time to time (ie: check that any attachment rings or clips are showing signs of being caught).  If this is the case we can replace any such damaged rings or clips at cost.

STAINLESS STEEL

Our engraved ranges consist of either hallmarked sterling silver or stainless steel --details are specified on the relevant product page. Stainless steel is becoming popular in jewellery today, not only because it has a strong and durable silver finish, but because it has a high resistance to weather and water and can be considered tarnish free (it does not oxidise).  Regular cleaning with a soft cloth is all that is required.

LEATHER

Our leather bracelets are quality finished to create supple but hardwearing leather. With the correct care and treatment it should last a lifetime.

Avoid exposing leather to direct sunlight or heat as this may cause the colour to fade over time. If your bracelet becomes wet for any reason, simply blot with a dry cloth and allow drying naturally. We would advise against the use of detergents or products containing alcohol or solvents. Cleaning should be restricted to a dry or damp cloth.

STORAGE

When not in use, all jewellery and leather items should be stored in their original packaging.  As with all jewellery, we recommend to avoid wearing jewellery during sport, bathing, sleeping, etc. and to avoid contact with household detergents or other chemical products and take care when spraying perfume.
